School Leaders Trip PDF Print E-mail
On Monday the 3rd of March Mr Knight and the school leaders travelled to Brisbane for a school leaders conference.
We arrived at the airport two hours early to board our plane. Before boarding we were playing arcade games and eating hot food. We played a game called chocoholic and all up we got about 11 chocolates. Then it was times to say our goodbyes and board the plane along with the entire Clare grade 7’s. On the plane we listened to safety instructions the boys were horrified because they had to help their husbands also the lady said it is illegal to smoke in the plane or anywhere else in Australia. When we arrived we caught a train to Toowong Station were we walked to our accommodation. We met up with Clare to go shopping for food at Coles. When we came back we went swimming, the pool “wasn’t very cold”. Then we had a BBQ and went to bed at 11:00pm.
On Tuesday we caught the ferry and then walked to the Andy Warhol art exhibition that was very interesting and than we went to Parliament House where we had a sausage sizzle with Rosemary Menkins and she showed us around. Afterwards we went to the Museum there were a lot of interesting and weird things. Soon after, we walked to the Art Gallery. We split into small groups and wondered off into the HUGE rooms. When we got back our feet were dead we had been walking all day. Luckily we had time to jump in the pool for a swim unfortunately another school bombarded us so we had to hop out. Lucky for us as soon as we hopped out our spaghetti was ready. We weren’t allowed to stay up late as we had to get up early in the morning.
On Wednesday we got up early and made our way to the Convention Centre. When we got there we waited for Clare they were very slow. When it was time to line up a lady made us squish up when we were already squished, we were not very happy about that. Once inside they brought out two big beach balls everyone had a lot of fun with these. Then it was time for our first speakers which were James Castrisson and Justin Jones. They were amazing and their story was very inspiring as they had kayaked across the Tasman Sea. Our next speaker was Josie Montano, an Author from Italy who got teased alot about her Italian background. The speaker after Josie was Lisa Backhouse a truly inspirational woman. She got breast cancer because of the site of the building at which she was working at, which was the ABC building as Lisa was a news reporter. Our next speaker was Mike Martin he believes that leadership is like the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance”, because you need style, you need to lead yourself, there is judging and there is also falls. Moving on to our next speaker, Jess schipper an Olympian. She gave us lots of great tips. This day was the best. After the leadership conference we walked to the lagoon and went for a swim also we covered Jordan, kali and Riko in sand. When we got home we got changed into some good clothes and went to the fegatta fortea. On Thursday we took the train to the airport when we got to the airport we had Hungry Jacks. After we had Hungry Jacks we went shopping we waited for the aeroplane. When we hopped off the plane we had to wait ages for our luggage. When we got our luggage we went home.
