Giru State School is currently organised into two class groupings:
Giru State School is implementing The Australian Curriculum in the Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Health and Physical Education (HPE), and Technologies whilst the Key Learning Areas of LOTE and The Arts are addressed through the Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (QCARF). Giru State School, along with all other State Schools in Queensland, will continue to progressively transition from the Queensland Curriculum to the Australian Curriculum as more Australian Curriculum subjects are released.
At Giru State School, students receive an individualised and differentiated educational experience - one that we are very proud to offer.
A specialist teacher provides curriculum instruction in HPE for all students. Which also comprises of swimming in the first and fourth terms.
Religious education is provided by members of the local community.
Languages Other Than English (LOTE)
Our LOTE is Japanese. Students in Years 5 and 6 participate in online LOTE lessons conducted through the Charters Towers School of Distance Education and also participate in a supervised follow up offline lesson each week.
