At Giru State School we believe that the school day does not begin at 9.00am and end at 3.00pm and that the school does not begin and end at the front gate. Therefore we engage students and the community with a range of extra-curricular activities.
Extra-curricular activities
Swimming
Giru State School students are rightfully proud of the pool attached to the school. The pool is available to the Giru community when not being used by the school. In Term 1 and Term 4, all students participate in swimming lessons on Fridays.
Under 8’s day
A fabulous fun-filled day for all children who are under 8 years old, and including children from the Giru Day Care Centre.
Food garden
Students are responsible for our garden which is home to 2 chickens, tomato plants, potato plants and a banana tree.
